The Electrical and Electronics Engineering department strongly believes in working towards a goal which is not merely theoretical in content but practical in approach. The department started in the year 2001 with a student intake of 60 and increased to 120 in the year 2008. The department laboratories are fully well equipped and commensurated with licensed electronic design software such as AUPOWER. The department has well qualified, dedicated and experienced faculty who have been the driving force behind the rapid success of this department. As a part of this endeavour, department has been accredited by NBA, New Delhi and signed MOU's with IGCAR, Kalpakkam, Vi Micro Systems Pvt Ltd., Chennai, Vikasha Electronics(P) Ltd., Chennai, Vee Eee Technologies, Chennai and advantage Pro, Chennai for academic and research development. II and III Year students compulsorily undergo Inplant Training & final year students carry out project work in various industries which enlighten them on the work environment in today's world. Student's memberships in various professional bodies like IEEE and ISTE help to enhance their co-curricular activities . It makes us proud that many of the students from this department have been placed in leading companies through our Campus selection program. Students pursue higher studies in leading universities abroad and the department consistently earns more Anna University ranks every year. Also the department has made Collaborative Research and development links with leading organization in India. The IEEE student Branch of Jeppiaar Engineering College was formed on 25th December 2005 and it was inaugurated on 27th March 2006. Since then it has organized many events to provide outstanding value to its members. The objective of starting IEEE Student branch was to create awareness about the day today technological developments and to make them to utilize the resources available in IEEE.
The Student Branch was started with 20 student members in 2005. Every year the number of student members joined in IEEE has increased and presently the Branch has 400 student members.
EERC:
EERC (Electrical And Electronics Research Consortium) is an organization dedicated to advance technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of the students of Jeppiaar engineering college, particularly for the students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The main motto of this organization is to inspire the student community through EERC's quality workshops, guest lectures, professional and educational activities. EERC is a student initiative and its core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of both the student of our college and humanity. EERC is the first technical society of our institution which is dedicated for the growth of the students of our college. The initiation of EERC was first started by Arun Raj. N, a final year EEE student who aspired to contribute something worthwhile to the students of electrical department of this institution in order to eliminate the problem of students getting stuck with high quality idea but unable to propose their innovations due to lack of technical knowledge and insecurity of being rejected. This organization is aimed to help and serve as a platform to establish the student’s idea on electrical and other technical aspects in a profound way.
