           The Department of Information Technology was established in 2001. The Department is certified to ISO 9001:2000 from DNV. The department has highly qualified, commited and well experienced faculty members with varied specializations. The faculty are involved in organizing and participating in several seminars, conferences and workshops. They have also published research papers in various national and international journals, presented papers in conferences in India and abroad.

The department has state-of-the-art facilities for various labs, well equipped Seminar halls, class rooms and network facilities to support e-learning, teaching and research. There are about 127 systems with latest configurations along with latest licensed software like Windows XP OS, Linux, MS Office 2003, MS Visual Studio6.0, MS Visual Studio.Net, Rational Rose-Enterprise Edition Suite, Turbo C++,JDK 1.6, etc. All computers are interconnected to various high-end servers running on operating systems like Windows NT, Linux, and UNIX. Internet(10 Mbps) and Intranet facilities are also available in the department .

The Department has department library with about 11,000 books and 200 CDs on Information Technology for the exclusive use of the faculty and sudents. Faculty and Students are encouraged to become members of professional societies like Computer Society of India, ISTE, ISTD etc. Periodic guest lectures and workshops are conducted for the students to supplement their curriculam.

The Department has produced University Ranks in the Anna University. All Eligible students are placed in leading software and core companies like CTS, WIPRO,HCL, INFOSYS, etc. through campus recruitment. Some of them pursue higher Studies in reputed National and International Universities. The department has tie-ups with Microsoft Academic alliance, C-Cat, Infosys Campus Connect, Advantage pro, Career Launcher and Tata Teleservices Ltd., for conducting various special training programs to the students to develop their skills in personality development, career development and aptitude test.

Computer Society of India (CSI):

CSI is one of the most famous society associated with the computer professionals. It was being introduced in the Jeppiaar engineering college in the year 2007 with the institutional membership, with 57 student members.However due to various advancement, today it had grown into an successful society with nearly 245 members. As active participants of this society we conduct monthly students meet where we discuss about the various advancements in technology. In the year 2010 during the month of march we organized the National conference on Information Science and Security in association with computer society of india which proved to be a great success.
