            The Department has been consistently exploring the path of technical advancement despite the variations in the software education. The department has achieved one of the best results in Anna University. The Jeppiaar Computer Club inaugurated by our Honourable Chairman Thiru. Jeppiaar, with its branches the .NET Club and Linux Club covers knowledge sharing and project experience among the students of the MCA Department.

The Department is also the member of the FOSS (Free Open Source Software) Community formed by AU-KBC research centre at MIT campus of Anna University. Students are very much benefitted through FOSS Electives and opportunities for developing open source projects and getting recognition for the same.

Computer lab is a D-Link Certified Network Lab with excellent Internet Facility of 2Mbps RF connectivity. As the Department is a member of MSDN Academic Alliance with benefits the student community by Software shipments with updates on a regular basis, Free download of any number of copies of MSDNAA Licensed Softwares.

The Students are given Certification Course Training for Basic Hardware Course and Red Hat Linux Certification using which a number of student have obtained certifications.

Computer Society of India (CSI):

CSI is one of the most famous society associated with the computer professionals. It was being introduced in the Jeppiaar engineering college in the year 2007 with the institutional membership, with 57 student members.However due to various advancement, today it had grown into an successful society with nearly 245 members. As active participants of this society we conduct monthly students meet where we discuss about the various advancements in technology. In the year 2010 during the month of march we organized the National conference on Information Science and Security in association with computer society of india which proved to be a great success.
