Admission Requirements

            Since its inception in 2002, the Mechanical Engineering Department with its energetic and dynamic faculty has provided complete Engineering Education converting young individuals into engineers, with both classroom and shop floor knowledge. 12 of our staff in the final stage of finishing their PhD. The Mechanical Department was inspected in the year 2001 and later accredited on 19th July 2008. Our department has an intake of around 132 students presently. Professional bodies like SAE has awarded our college with the Best College Award in the year 2007, Best Motivational Award in the year 2008-2009 and recently our college has also conducted tier 2 competition. Our college also has an active participation with IIPE and ISRAE. Our department library has 14,627 books with 310 titles and new books and titles get added every week. We have around 648 online ASME journals which get updated every week.


A Pilot project has been done for BHEL as a part of R&D work. Also we have a MOU with IGCAR(Indra Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research) and many project proposals have been sent to various ministries. To acquaint our students with current technological advancements, Inplant training, Industrial visits and technical seminars are organised frequently. Every semester 20 students from II year, 25 students from III year and 20 students from final year undergo inplant training. Our college has also been successful in placing many students in various companies like Ashok Leyland, Mahendra & Mahendra, FLSmidth, Renault Nissan,TVS Motors, Sundaram Fasteners and Wheels India. Knowlwdge of Software packages like AutoCAD, Pro-E and Ansys also provided to students. The department also gives exposure to the students in design and manufacturing skills in its fully-equipped CAD/CAM laboratory. Our departments has also been successful in achieving University Ranks every year. Till now we have produced six University Ranks in our department.

SAE :


The title of the project is “FORMULA JEPPIAAR”. Formula SAE team, Jeppiaar engineering college. The team formula Jeppiaar is a group of hard working inter-disciplinary students from Jeppiaar Engineering College determined to apply their technical knowledge to face real-life challenges. The team is currently aiming to participate in the SUPRA SAE INDIA Challenge 2011 to be held at Chennai. We are determined and working with full dedication to leave a mark at the competition in our very first attempt. Subsequently, the team will be aiming to take part in FSAE competitions abroad and will be keen to establish the presence in the international student formula-racing scenario and put India on the global map. Formula Jeppiaar is a diverse team of talented engineering students from Aeronautical branch honing their skills in their specialized areas of interest such as engine, chassis, suspension, electronic controls or body and its aerodynamics


Current Status:

  • Currently the design process are going on, we are started the design from the require tire data, and we are in also collecting the data for the further requirements of the design process. We are using the powerful software’s like SoildWorks, Ansys for deign. Solid works sponsor their software for this project.
  • Our team has completed the course in “VEHICLE DYNAMICS AND MOTORSPORT ENGINEERING” in pune conducted by ARAI & Optimum G USA. The course was taught by a great Race engineer MR.Calludrolle motorsport engineering having experience about 30 years and also the director of OPTIMUM G.
  • Our team has successfully registered for the Supra SAE India which going to be held on July 2011.
  • Our team has finalized the engine process in design. Solidworks has sponsored their software for us. This lead us to more benefits in design
  • Our team has tested the Maruthi 800 engine which is going to be use in our formula car.
  • Our Aerodynamics team has design the shape of the car and run the wind tunnel test virtually by using the flow simulation software , which is provided by the solidworks.
